Thermometer vs Thermostat

January 9, 2018

I remember my Pastor telling me something that I will never forget
“there’s two type of people, those who make things happen and those who have things happen to them” what type of person will you be this year?

It's been proven that most people break their New Years Resolution before the January the 7th because they let circumstances get to them. Will you let things happen to you or will you make things happen?

Lets think about a thermometer and thermostat.

What does a thermometer do?
A thermometer gets affected by the temperature around it. How high or high low the temperature is on the thermometer is determined by the temperature of the room, now ask yourself..

How hard you work, is that determined by what everyone is doing around you and by all your circumstances?

Now a thermostat sets the temperature..Will you be one that will be able to set the tone in your life? will you allow hard work to determine circumstances around you and not the other way round.

This isn’t to say that you’re not allowed to be upset, it’s just understanding that you shouldn’t be emotional as I said in the last blog post, there’s a huge different between being emotional and emotionally present.

This year focus on understanding your emotions and fueling them for the better.

Turn your pain into purpose.

4 ways to be a thermostat

1. Make sure the first thing you focus on in the morning is good news (read a book, meditate, pray, do something that reminds you of the good)

2. Watch a lot of interviews about those who have overcome adversity (recently I talked about how I overcame depression, suicide and my addiction to sleeping pills - you can watch it here -

3. Have a vision board, DREAM BIG. People have sight, leaders have vision. When you have vision and direction, you won't let things knock you.

4. Know your why, remember WHY you're working hard and remember who you're  doing it for.

Wishing you all the best!
